    For Families

    Parents of Meadowbrook

Everything current families need: POM, volunteering, transportation, weather closures, uniforms, and forms.

    POM Committee

    Parents of Meadowbrook (POM)

The Parents of Meadowbrook, or POM for short, is the parent organization of The Meadowbrook School. As a parent of an enrolled student, you are automatically a member of POM. POM is a collaborative organization of parents and the school whose goal is to build community through engagement and fundraising that furthers our mission of "Bringing Life to Learning."

POM sponsors a variety of fundraisers and programs throughout the year, runs the School Store, and always welcomes parent volunteers. Even a few hours makes a difference; there are opportunities for every schedule and interest.

POM meets once a month. Watch for meeting announcements in the Meadowbrook FYI and POM emails; we'd love to have you join us. All proceeds from POM programming and School Store sales go directly to supporting Meadowbrook's students and faculty.

    2025–26 POM Executive Committee

    Meet This Year's Committee

    • Sydney Buchbinder: President
    • Kate Gravitz: Vice President*
    • Valeria Maritza: Treasurer
    • Lauren O'Hara: Secretary
    • Melanie Mickie: Room Parent Coordinator

*Kate will be heading up the School Store for 2025–26.

Please reach out to any of the above parents to see how you can help at upcoming POM events.

    Volunteer

    Get Involved

If you'd like to volunteer with our students, we'd love to have you! Opportunities include field trip chaperones, class parents, guest readers, library helpers, recess volunteers, and volunteer coaches or club advisors.

Before volunteering at Meadowbrook, you must send copies of your clearances to Aleatheia Rahman AND Brittany Mercer.

    Required Clearances

    • Pennsylvania Criminal History Record
    • Child Abuse History Clearance
    • FBI Federal Criminal History Record

If you have lived outside of Pennsylvania in the last 10 years, you must obtain a fingerprint-based FBI Criminal History Clearance.

School Code for FBI Appointment: 1KG6ZJ

    Who needs clearances?

Adults with direct contact with children or responsibility for their welfare: regular classroom assistants, recess and library volunteers, volunteer coaches, club advisors, and field trip chaperones.

    Who doesn't?

Event participants and visitors not responsible for students: Back-to-School Night, parent/teacher conferences, assemblies, concerts, Halloween parades, Grandparents & Special Friends Day, or Career Day.

    When & how often?

Parents need clearances if they are regularly scheduled to assist with school-sponsored events, chaperone field trips, or have other direct contact with children. Clearances must be renewed every five years.

Volunteers not required to obtain FBI certification (because they are applying for an unpaid position and have been a continuous PA resident for the past 10 years) must sign the Disclosure Statement Application for Volunteers.

All visitors must sign in at the main office upon arrival and sign out upon departure.

    Transportation

    Getting to Meadowbrook

Meadowbrook is committed to supporting the transportation needs of our student community. Many students take advantage of bus service provided by their home school district. If you live within 10 miles of campus, you may be eligible for free district-provided bus transportation.

Please contact the transportation department of your local school district for pick-up/drop-off locations and schedules. Return the transportation form to the Main Office if you are interested in bus service.

    Inclement Weather

    Weather Closures & Delays

If The Meadowbrook School will not be opening due to weather or other emergencies, an AlertNow message is sent via phone, email, and/or text. You may also check our website and social media after 6:00 a.m.

If the forecast looks questionable as the day progresses, please check the website or social media frequently. Please call the Main School Number only as a last resort; these lines must stay open for district-closing information and parent contact.

If Meadowbrook remains open during the day:

If your child relies on public school transportation and you indicated on the emergency dismissal form that we should dismiss to their bus, we will do so when the district bus arrives. This may be any time during the day if that district closes early.

Meadowbrook has no control over the arrival of district buses. Please check your district's website or television for their decision. We make every reasonable attempt to keep our website updated with estimated bus arrival times.
