    Sixth Grade

Our leaders, ready to embark on the next stage of their journey.

    What Makes Sixth Grade Special

We regard our sixth graders as special individuals who have grown to become our leaders and are now about to embark on the next stage of their journey. As leaders of our community, sixth graders have many responsibilities: helping create the Meadowbrook School Yearbook, establishing close ties with their younger buddies, participating in D.A.R.E., assisting younger students during ice-skating, and leading school assemblies and special events. The journey through sixth grade provides a smooth transition from an elementary school environment to that of middle school.

    Sixth Grade Curriculum

A comprehensive, hands-on approach to learning that sparks curiosity and builds confidence.

    Language Arts

Sixth graders explore a wide range of genres, from science fiction and mystery to biography, mythology, and adventure. They build comprehension through novel studies, discussions, and projects while strengthening their writing with journals, essays, and creative assignments. Students learn to compare and contrast ideas, assess characters, and express opinions clearly. We use Fountas & Pinnell for both reading and writing.

    Math

With Math in Focus, students learn to approach problems in different ways, practice real-world applications, and explain the reasoning behind their math choices, becoming confident, flexible problem-solvers.

    Social Studies

Students journey through world history, beginning with Mesopotamia and Egypt and moving through Greece, Rome, and the Middle Ages. They discover how civilizations developed, how cultures influenced one another, and how the past connects to the present.
