What Makes Fifth Grade Special
Fifth grade at Meadowbrook offers a fulfilling academic experience with ample opportunities for individual creative expression and enrichment, augmented by guest speakers, field trips, activities, and special events that bring the curriculum to life. Through an integrated curriculum, our fifth graders see that subjects are connected: stories, poems, essays, skits, and diaries are written on themes from social studies ranging from the Vikings through the Civil War.

Fifth Grade Curriculum
A comprehensive, hands-on approach to learning that sparks curiosity and builds confidence.
Language Arts
Fifth graders grow as readers and writers by exploring fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and plays. They analyze characters, themes, and figures of speech while practicing higher-level comprehension. Students develop their writing using strong vocabulary, descriptive language, and all stages of the writing process, often connected to history or social studies. Students also do novel studies.
Math
With Math in Focus, students move into more advanced math concepts, strengthening problem-solving skills and understanding how math applies to everyday life.
Social Studies
Students study U.S. history from early explorers through the Civil War, learning how people and events shaped our country and what it means to be responsible citizens today.
